Leaving Social Media (except LinkedIn)

I have left social media except LinkedIn.

Turned off my Facebook and Instagram, wasn’t on anything else.

Kept LinkedIn for work and will ultimately see if I turn that off as well.

What I liked most about social media was my ability to log activities, places I had been, people I had been with. More of a scrapbook that would keep track of things I have done and bring them back as memories.

What I didn’t like ability social media was the fakeness of it, the algorithims behind it, the division of people and the ability to influence people with bots (and many other ways).

It feels weird not to have social media today, I wasn’t necessarily on it often but I definitely would open it up on my phone every so often and I know have that time to do other things, better things I feel.

This is now my “social media”, my website that I control, uncensored and people can look at it if they want to, its that simple really.

Here is to 2026 and like giving up drinking, I can’t think of one negative of being off social media, but we will see…
